Is it hard to weld metal?

A lot of people think it is. I weld down at my fathers shop and some of the guys down there can weld but not very well...

It takes practice for sure! Some people can pick something up like they've done it for years, I'm told I have skills like someone who's been welding for years/a natural, but really just a few years now. That was really nice to hear that from an older fella who has been welding for years.
